Menorca Holiday

Our trip to Menorca was lots of fun, well worth it, many thanks to Auntie for recommending it. This is me chomping into a Spanish omelette. A lot of eating :)

Nic and Jes with a bit of well-deserved time on the beach with real sand (not pebbles). It's amazing how much much we have missed the beach.

And this was a bit of time around the pool at the resort having an ice lollie. Nic is soaking up the sun here.

Beautiful sunshine, lovely surrounds and the kids are having a great time.

Looking out to the Santo Thomas beach from the pathway.

This is a shot across the resort at Santo Thomas, with the pool in the middle.

This is a shot across the town Ferreries.

Also in Ferreries.

This was our favourite beach destination, Cala Galdana. Nice swmming beach but bit heavy on the nudists :)

Nic, Phillipa and Jes at Cala Galdana.

Jes and Nic looking out towards Cala Galdana. That fencing, made of olive tree branches, is very common in Menorca. They say it last 100 yrs.

Phillipa, Nic and Jes at Cala Galdana, again!

We went for a walk to the top of the hill, phew, totally unfit and hot, and it was only about 28C.

The two scrawny rats, we need to fatten them up.

A shot from the top of the hill at Cala Galdana.

We got back down the hill and then had a well deserved cold drink, well Phillipa had a coffee, go figure! :)

Jes sipping on a refreshing lemonade.

Then we took a trip to Ciutadella, lovely port here. Some horses, well we are in Spain. :)

Absolutely beautiful port, similar to Fremantle in a way.

Very colourful buildings all around Menorca.

This was one of those wide-body boats that if my memory serves me correctly is native to Menorca.

We took a walk into Ciutadella after some Burger King - whoops :)

Lovely colours, very much like Italy.

Phillipa, Nic and Jes in ciutadella.

There is Phillipa soaking up the sun.

Me with the kids looking dow towards the harbour in ciutadella.

Very beautiful water and ancient buildings now resided by restaurants and leisure boats.

Last shot of Ciutadella.

Jes looking a bit cold on the beach. Jes loves the beach.

Back at Cala Galdana.

We had dinner at Es Pins at Santo Thomas. Beautiful sunset here and good for the kids.

My 2 girls enjoying dinner.

A view back down the beach from the restaurant. That was my fishing rod, by that time I caught a marlin, two snapper, just too many to count. :)

Another shot down the Santo Thomas beach.

The next day we took a walk to Son Bou along the cliffs and then along a nudist beach - some serious exhibitionists on display - we saw where the sun usually doesn't shine, thats for sure. :)

Looking back inland towards a property. These people have a lovely lifestyle here.

We took a day trip around the island on a coach tour which included a boat trip along the harbour in Mahon (or Mao).

Lovely day, lovely weather.

Some colourful buildings with yachts in the foreground.

Then we had some time in the Mahon town, very pretty place.

Looking out towards the harbour in Mahon.

Looking back towards the town of Mahon.

J, P, N.

Yep, and we stopped for another coffee.

Jessica Elaine Spence, chomping on something.

Jes and Nic at Cala'n Porter, we had lunch there while on the tour.

The beach at Cala'n Porter.

Also on the tour we stopped at Cova d 'en Xoroi. An amazing place, a disco set inside the cliff, originally a cave.

Another shot Cova d 'en Xoroi.

A better shot of Cova d 'en Xoroi.

Cova d 'en Xoroi

Then we moved onto Binebeca, a lovely town all painted white.

Wonderful place this. We were told the town was "created", mainly for tourism, but there are residents here.

And a church to finish it off, although not a real one.

Need I say more ...

Near the main Binibeca port.

There is Phillipa, Nic and Jes paddling their feet, it was a hot day.

A fishing boat tied up in the harbour.

Jes in her new orange dress.

A church in Es Castell.

Some unique architecture in Es Castell.

A ferry was docked in the Mahon port, yes this is a ferry, well a lot larger than the Rotto ferry, thats my point.

Es Castell again, lovely quaint harbour lined with restaurants.

We took another day trip in the car, this shot was taken from the highest peak at Monte Torro.

This is at Cala Satandria, the water was crystal clear and fishing swimming right up to the shoreline. We wlaked to the around the water here to a cafe built into the cliff face, just to the left of the photo.

Here are the fish.

Lovely place.

Finished our ice-creams and then off on the adventure again. The temp here was hovering in the high 20s (celcius).

Sorry one last hot of Santandria.

Back at Cala Caldana - our favourite beach, there might be a better one, but we didn't see it.

Some nice accommodation here.

Nic trying to catch a fish.

I can see Jes living close to the beach one day, she loves it.

Dad, I am hot and bothered. We went back to Binibeca for a closer look.

Phew, give me a cool drink.

Signing off....loved it in Menorca. Posted by Picasa
